Water Management Project in New South Wales

Perth-Australia August 1, 2024 — SWAN Systems today announced the launch of a pioneering water management project in collaboration with Microsoft, aimed at enhancing water sustainability in the City of Penrith in New South Wales. This collaboration seeks to implement advanced water management solutions in 40 parks, setting new benchmarks for water conservation and efficiency.

Microsoft is working to become water-positive by 2030, focusing on reducing water use, replenishing water sources, providing access to water and sanitation services, advocating for effective water policies, and promoting innovation and data digitisation. The project in Penrith will leverage SWAN Systems’ cutting-edge technology to achieve these goals, marking a significant step towards sustainable water management in urban areas.

The project will concentrate on several key areas:

Data-Driven Water Management: Utilising SWAN’s advanced data analytics to monitor and manage water usage efficiently across the parks, with results to date indicating that 10% to 30% water savings are achievable.

Precision Water Management: Implementing cutting-edge irrigation technologies to optimise water use, reducing waste, and enhancing sustainability.

Community Engagement: Collaborating with local communities and water utilities to promote water conservation practices and improve water stewardship.

The City of Penrith​ is actively looking at options to maximise water efficiency, through their sustainability initiatives , which align perfectly with the objectives of the partnership.

By focusing on this initial project, Microsoft and SWAN Systems aim to deliver substantial environmental benefits, including improved water quality, increased water efficiency, and enhanced ecosystem health. Over time, the partnership plans to expand its reach and water-saving initiatives through additional projects across Australia and internationally.
